Releases from Texas State Custody
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is the statewide prison, state-jail, and parole system. It is not the Grayson County Jail, and its official unit directory shows no TDCJ unit physically in Grayson County. A person sentenced on a Grayson felony may be transferred from Sherman to a TDCJ institution elsewhere in Texas. That transfer ends county custody but does not release the person from confinement.
A later TDCJ release can lead to parole, mandatory supervision, discretionary mandatory supervision, or full sentence discharge. TDCJ Dates Are Not Releases
A projected date is a forecast. Good-conduct time is conditional, offense rules differ, and TDCJ Classification and Records performs the official calculation. Texas has no general rule that every person serves eighty-five percent of a sentence. Government Code Section 508.145 has specific calendar-time restrictions for listed serious offenses, while mandatory-supervision eligibility follows separate law.

The agency says that processing can take about fourteen to twenty-one business days and warns that scheduled information may change without notice. TDCJ IVSS covers state custody and parole or mandatory supervision. It can provide notices about parole eligibility, Board decisions, bench-warrant release and return, discharge dates, and release from prison. TDCJ Release and Outside Holds
An outside hold can change the destination after TDCJ processing. Transfer to another county, federal custody, or ICE is continued custody, not community release. ICE's locator can include people released from immigration custody during only the preceding sixty days, so a later blank result does not establish what happened at the TDCJ gate.
Build the chain one custodian at a time. TDCJ establishes departure from state prison. The receiving agency establishes arrival and any later release. This method prevents a state release date from being described as unrestricted community return when another authority took custody immediately.
TDCJ Parole Votes and Release
Board vote codes describe decisions, not a single gate date. FI-1 generally means release when eligible, FI-2 identifies a specified month and year, and several program-related votes require completion before release. Grayson Jail Time Versus TDCJ
A sentence served in Grayson County Jail is not calculated through the TDCJ Projected Release Date field. County confinement follows the judgment, credited custody, and county-jail law. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure article 42.032 permits a sheriff to grant a limited deduction for good conduct, industry, and obedience, but the statute does not prove the credit awarded in a specific case.
