Sherman Parole Office Release Role

The Sherman District Parole Office is a TDCJ Parole Division supervision office, not a detention facility and not a place from which inmates are released. TDCJ's county cross-reference assigns Grayson County to Sherman in Region II. A person may report there after leaving a state prison on parole, mandatory supervision, or discretionary mandatory supervision.

Office assignment helps establish where a TDCJ releasee is supervised. It does not replace the prison release certificate and does not prove that every person convicted in Grayson County reports there. Confirm the individual through TDCJ offender details and the responsible office before stating an assignment.

Confirm Sherman Parole Status

Start with the TDCJ offender search, not the Grayson County jail roster. A person on parole has left prison custody but continues serving a sentence under state supervision.

1. Search by TDCJ number or SID when available and verify the identity details.
2. Open Offender Information Details and Parole Review Information for the matching record.
3. Read the status and release fields exactly, distinguishing projected, scheduled, and completed events.
4. Use TDCJ telephone channels according to whether the Board has voted.
5. Contact the Sherman office to verify assignment only when the individual and lawful reason for the inquiry are clear.

A favorable Board vote may require a program or later processing and does not prove departure. The Grayson County release search supplies the separate county-jail record route.

Sherman Parole Office Contact

The official TDCJ Region II directory lists the Sherman District Parole Office at 2931 Fallon Drive, Sherman, Texas 75090. The telephone number is 903-868-2616, and the fax number is 903-893-1049. TDCJ's general telephone information describes offices as open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The office handles supervision operations. Release certificates, incarceration history, and broad state records belong with TDCJ's central offender-information or public-information channels. Probation records belong with Grayson County Community Supervision and Corrections, not this parole office.

Sherman Parole Is Not Probation

Parole follows imprisonment in TDCJ and is authorized through the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. Mandatory supervision is another TDCJ release framework. Probation, commonly called community supervision in Texas, is imposed by a court and administered through a local Community Supervision and Corrections Department.

A county jail release followed by probation does not mean the person was released from a TDCJ prison. A TDCJ parole record does not provide a complete search of local probation.

TDCJ Calls Before and After Release

TDCJ publishes different numbers for different stages. Before the Board votes to release, the Board status line is 844-512-0461. After a release vote, the Parole Division release-status line is 512-406-5202. General locator and inmate information is available at 936-295-6371 or 800-535-0283.

For a post-vote call, have the TDCJ number, SID, or date of birth. If neither identification number is known, TDCJ says an exact date of birth is required. Ask whether the release certificate was processed, whether a scheduled date and location were entered, and whether the person is now shown on parole or mandatory supervision. Never treat the expected date as the completed event.

Sherman Supervision Record Fields

TDCJ parole policy identifies public fields available on request. A narrow request can seek the supervising officer's name, identity and physical descriptors, aliases, offense and sentence information, court, county, and cause number, parole eligibility, parole release, mandatory release, discharge dates, supervision status, and warrant number or date information.

Identify the person with a full name and TDCJ or SID number, or with a full name and date of birth. Ask only for the fields needed to confirm release and current supervision. The address of a district office is not proof that a person reports there, and a directory should never be treated as a client roster.

Sherman Absconder and Warrant Records

An absconder is a person on parole or community supervision who fails to report and cannot be located for continued supervision. The term does not mean the sentence ended. A warrant may follow, but warrant status must come from an official record. It cannot be inferred from an unanswered telephone call, a change of address, or a missing search result.

Revocation can return a releasee to custody. In that case, the original prison-release date remains a historical event while present custody changes. Build the chronology from the release date, supervision type, warrant or revocation event, return to custody, and later discharge. Do not merge those stages.

Releasee

A person serving part of a TDCJ sentence outside prison.

Absconder

A supervised person who cannot be located after failing to report.

Revocation

Official action that can end community supervision and return a person to custody.

Discharge

Completion of the sentence and supervision.

Sherman Parole IVSS Notices

TDCJ IVSS covers people in TDCJ custody or on parole or mandatory supervision. Notifications may include Board decisions, release, discharge, bench-warrant release and return, and related state events. Email confirmation and telephone PIN instructions documented for TDCJ IVSS belong to this post-conviction system.

IVSS-Counties is separate. It replaced county VINE for county-jail and court notifications in 2025. A Grayson jail detainee who never entered TDCJ may have no TDCJ IVSS record. Conversely, a person released from a state prison can remain tied to TDCJ IVSS beyond the county transfer. Save each notice with its issuing system and event date.

When Sherman Parole Supervision Ends

Physical prison release and sentence discharge are different milestones. Parole or mandatory supervision means confinement ended while legal supervision continues. The discharge date marks completion of the sentence and applicable supervision. After discharge, a live lookup may no longer show the same detail, making TDCJ incarceration history and court records important.

Record four separate facts: the prison-release date, release type, assigned office or supervision status, and discharge date. That prevents a person who completed parole from being described as currently supervised. It also prevents a probationer from being mislabeled as a TDCJ parolee.

Sherman TDCJ Release Types

Parole is a discretionary release authorized through the Board. Mandatory supervision and discretionary mandatory supervision arise under statutory rules for eligible sentences, with Board review applying to the later discretionary system. All three can place a person outside prison while TDCJ supervision continues.

A person who fully discharges the sentence is no longer a parole client. If the live lookup no longer returns that person, request historical incarceration, release, and discharge information from TDCJ. Do not interpret a missing office relationship as proof that the sentence ended.

Grayson Court and Parole Records

The original Grayson judgment remains important. Felony judgments and sentencing papers are maintained by the District Clerk. They establish the sentence and case number that should match the TDCJ record. Later appellate or trial-court orders may alter the legal basis for custody, but the TDCJ event establishes the actual prison release.

For probation, use the responsible trial court and Grayson County CSCD. For parole, use the TDCJ release and supervision records. Searching only the local court or only the Sherman office can omit a critical stage.

Sherman Supervision Changes

Conditions and reporting duties belong to the individual release order and supervision plan. An office directory does not reveal them. When a factual confirmation is needed, request the current supervision status and public fields rather than asking staff to interpret private case management information.

A transfer between parole offices does not undo the prison release. A warrant or revocation also does not erase the earlier release date. Record each later event with its own date and official source so the chronology remains accurate.

Verify a Sherman Assignment

The statewide county cross-reference identifies Sherman as the district office serving Grayson County, but individual assignments can depend on approved residence and supervision decisions. Confirm the office through the TDCJ record or authorized office contact. A planned move to Grayson County is not the same as an active Sherman assignment.

If the person transfers to another district, preserve the prior and current office dates. Office movement is an administrative supervision event. It does not change the original prison release date or convert parole into probation.
